Day 1

Tbilisi
The first day of the tour takes place in the capital of Georgia – Tbilisi. After wandering through narrow streets and districts of the old town, we visit Abanotubani, famous with sulfur bathes. The place is related to the foundation of Tbilisi, as according to the legend, king Vakhtang Gorgasali discovered this place in the 5th century and decided to build a city on this location. During the tour, we also visit ancient Narikala Fortress, Anchiskhati Church of the 6th century, Monument of Kartlis Deda (Mother of Georgia) and other sightseeing.

Day 2

Tbilisi – Davit Gareja – Sighnaghi
In the morning, we drive towards wine region – Kakheti – to visit cave monastery complex of Davit Gareja of the 6th century. Monastery is located at the border of Georgia-Azerbaijan. After visiting David’s Lavra, we have approximately three hours of hiking through the territory, where we discover amazing landscapes and unique frescos of Udabno monastery. Afterwards, our trip continues to the city of Sighnaghi to enjoy wonderful views over Alazani Valley and Caucasus Mountains.

Day 3

Sighnaghi – Kvareli – Alaverdi – Tsinandali – Tbilisi
We start our day with driving towards Kvareli to get to know traditional Georgian and European methods of winemaking and taste wine of several types. After visiting one of the biggest cathedral of Georgia – Alaverdi, we continue our trip to Tsinandali to visit house-museum of Alexander Chavchavadze. The museum has its own ancient wine cellar (marani), where wine was produced and bottled in the European method for the first time in the history of Georgia. Afterwards, we drive back to Tbilisi via Gombori Pass taking delight in breathtaking views.

Day 4

Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Stepantsminda
We start the day with driving towards Mtskheta, once the capital of Georgian Kingdom – Iberia, where Christianity became official religion in 337. After visiting Svetitskhoveli Cathedral of the 11th century and Jvari Monastery of the 6th century (UNESCO), we continue driving towards Stepantsminda. On our way, we pass famous Georgian Military Road, Gudauri ski resort and Jvari Pass. We visit Ananuri Church and Fortress of the 16th century and stop at Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument to enjoy breathtaking views.

Day 5

Stepantsminda – Tbilisi
Today we drive to visit Gergeti Trinity Monastery of the 14th century, located at the height of 2200 meters above sea level. If wanted, we may walk the upward slope, which takes approximately three hours. After enjoying breathtaking views of one of the highest peaks of Caucasus – Kazbegi (Mkinvartsveri, 5047 m) our journey continues towards village Tsdo, where we take a walk around and return to Tbilisi.

Day 6

Tbilisi – Asureti – Vardzia
This part of our journey takes place at Southern part of Georgia. We start driving towards the cave city Vardzia via Paravani Pass. On our way, we visit old German village Elizabetal, nowadays known as Asureti, Paravani Lake and Phoka Nunnery of St. Nino, constructed in the 11th century, which is related to St. Nino from Cappadocia, preacher of Christianity in Georgia. The day ends up with arriving and hiking (one hour) in Vardzia – a cave city carved in rock in the 12th century.

Day 7

Vardzia – Kutaisi
Our journey continues towards Western part of Georgia, to one of the ancient cities of the country – Kutaisi. On our way, we visit karst cave of Prometheus and Gelati Monastery and Academy of the 12th century (UNESCO). We return to Kutaisi to explore old districts and streets of the city and visit Bagrati Cathedral of the 11th century.

Day 8

Kutaisi – Zugdidi – Mestia
We start the day with driving towards the center of Svaneti – Mestia. On our way, we stop in the city of Zugdidi to visit Dadiani Palace of the 18th century. After Zugdidi, we have a stop at Enguri Reservoir to see the biggest hydro power plant (HPP) in Transcaucasia. Today’s journey ends up in Mestia, the city surrounded with high mountains. After taking a walk in the city, we have a free time in the evening.

Day 9

Mestia – Ushguli
We start morning with driving towards UNESCO world heritage site – Ushguli, one of the highest populated villages in Europe. We visit Lamaria Monastery of the 9th-10th centuries, exotic towers of Svaneti, Ethnographic Museum and Machubi – the old Svanetian house, where we get to know how Svanetian families used to live during the centuries. After walking across the gorge of Enguri River we reach the bottom of the highest peak of Georgia – Shkhara (5.193 m), from where is possible to see a glacier and source of the River Enguri.

Day 10

Ushguli – Mestia
In the morning, we drive back to Mestia. On our way, we have a stop at Tetnuldi Ski Resort with breathtaking views of Tetnuldi and Ushba mountains. After arriving in Mestia, we visit State Museum and start two hours of hiking through pine forest to Chalaadi Glacier.

Day 11

Mestia – Batumi
In the morning, we leave Svaneti to continue our adventure to the Black Sea Coast of Adjara Region, in particular, to the city of Batumi. Old and modern architecture are beautifully mixed in the second largest city of Georgia. After taking a walk along the Boulevard we visit rotating Tower of Alphabet and Monument of Medea – a Colchian princess of the Greek mythology. After that, we have an opportunity to explore non-touristic part of the city. We have a free time and relaxation in the evening.

Day 12

Batumi
We start the day with visiting Botanical Garden of Batumi, boasting one of the largest varieties of flora in the world. After that, we drive to the border of Georgia-Turkey to visit coast village – Sarpi, partially located on a mountain slope. On our way back to Batumi we stop to visit fortress of Gonio Apsaros, built by Romanians in the 1st century.

Day 13

Batumi – Goderdzi Pass – Akhaltsikhe
Today we leave Batumi and drive to upper Adjara to explore mountainous and remote villages of the Region. After having a break at Goderdzi Pass we start hiking towards Green Lake, located between the beautiful mountains. Afterwards, we drive towards Akhaltsikhe and visit Zarzma Monastery of the 8th century.

Day 14

Akhaltsikhe – Uplistsikhe – Tbilisi
Our day starts with visiting Rabati Fortress and continues with driving to Borjomi. After arriving in Borjomi, we have a walk in a park of the town, where we taste mineral water right out of the spring. On our way to Tbilisi, we visit Uplistsikhe – cave town carved in rock, considered as one of the ancient settlements in the whole Caucasus.
